Ben Arment is fantastic. He put together an awesome prize package for a Stuff Christians Like reader (it included 6 books and a wearable blanket) in celebration of what is undoubtedly going to be a great conference. (It’s called Story , you should go. Donald Miller is.) After sorting through the most ridiculously awesome comments about what should be added to the Metrosexual Worship Leader Scorecard (You can read them all here ) I picked a winner. I don’t know who “The Missional Position” is but he’s hilarious.

Beirut playing 2009 Treasure Island Music Festival

Only three weeks away from the 2009 Treasure Island Music Festival. One of the bands I am most excited to see is Beirut. The indie band out of Santa Fe, New Mexico will be back in San Francisco after a year’s break and will be on stage Day 2, October 18, 2009.

I was fortunate enough to see Beirut last May at the Regency Ballroom on my birthday. It was a surprise from my friend. What a show… They totally rocked and since then have been one of my top 25 most-listened to artists on iTunes. If my memory serves me correctly, they were supposed to play late last year or earlier this year, but had some issues and canceled the tour. I thought they had broken up, but I am very glad to be wrong about that. Do yourself a favor and get out to Treasure Island Music Festival this October 2009 and catch Beirut on Sunday.

All female band, The Kut, are set to release their debut Double A-side single mid October: ‘Doesn’t Matter Anyway’ / ‘Closure’. Dubbed as ‘the best all female band the UK has ever produced’, their ‘basement rock’ sound mixes dark indie, sultry vocals and contagious guitar riffs, with dubby bass and solid drums. This year already saw the band perform as main support at 30,000 people strong event, the 25th Anniversary of London’s People Day.

The first edition to our slowly growing editorial staff is a recent Charlottesville addition as well, and an extremely talented musician with a background in the technical arts of the production studio. Here is a short biography from his Author page: Nate Bolling was born on February 9th, 1983 in Fort Worth, TX. Early in his youth, he discovered a rich interest in music and picked up the guitar and piano early in middle school. Soon, he was composing original songs and hunting for bandmates in his community.
